Locations from the exciting new series on Alibi - The Red King
Premiering tonight (Weds 24th April) on Alibi, The Red King is a character-driven mystery-thriller, combining a powerful story of a knotty police investigation with chilling, atmospheric folk-horror through the island's eerie past devotion to a pagan God called the Red King and the cult of the True Way.
The series was filmed in Northumberland and you can hear from the cast about their experiences in this rugged, mystical and beautiful county.

    Despite the somewhat extreme comments from Paul Davies, I happen to agree that Hexham does have some weird folk there and I did hear from a very good source that her family did have some inbred activiity going on due to the area of Hexham having large farming communities etc., so next time a Hexham native heaps scorn of the very notion I'm afraid Hexham does have an inbred problem due to it's remoteness I guess and the weirdness of the natives.

    Aye, Halty's grand for a day and I love the gorge. But living there? No. Too clannish, too prone to taking great offence at slight matters and getting kin involved. I'm from Hexham and I've always enjoyed a day in Halty, but leave before dark.

    When I was a wee bairn in the early 1950s me and my brother and mum lived on Milfield airfield, a fighter base in WW2. One day in 1956 my uncle John Dagg, came and picked us up in his Moggie Minor, Grandma too and took us into Wooler and up to a new housing estate, High Fair it is called. We got number 44 and Auntie Margeret and Grandma got number 29, all the other residents of "The Huts" as Milfield was called, got new houses with inside nettys and bathroom and front and back gardens. It was a lovely time for us kids, then my dad came back from sailoring and eventually we moved south, that was a sad day. My mother was very unhappy so were me and my brother, now I am nearly 70 and still think of Wooler.

    Monoculture ruined kielder unfortunately

    • @anglonrx2754
      @anglonrx2754 2 роки тому

      @Mithrandir it’s cutting down the ancient forest and replacing it all with one type of tree. So traditionally kielder will have likely been Oak, Ash, Birch etc now that is cut down and it’s all just Scandinavian Pine so looks very artificial. Furthermore the tree is very cheap it isn’t visually appealing in my opinion.

    • @anglonrx2754
      @anglonrx2754 2 роки тому

      @Mithrandir they did this for the production of timber. Scandinavian pine grows quickly so it’s great for harvesting wood cheaply.

    Hi there! I am a university undergraduate student and for my dissertation i'm producing a documentary on the proposed reintroduction of the Lynx into Kielder forest. I would absolutely love to include drone footage in my documentary as it would add a great perspective of the landscape. Unfortunately I do not have the resources or equipment to obtain this footage myself, so I was wondering if you would be willing to send me some of your footage for me to include? It would be such an incredible help and addition to my project, I would only need a few scenes. It would be completely referenced and credited to you and not at all passed off as my own. We can sign and agree on this and I'd acknowledge you in my written part of the project as well. It also won't be shown anywhere public, it is purely for university work and will just be internally marked. Love the footage you have here, thank you for your time! :)
